Had half a watermelon in the fridge and wanted to try something new, this was delicious! Served it with bbq chicken and mexican rice. I recommend dissolving the sugar in the vodka first.-03 Sep 2010
Refreshing, fun summer party recipe! We really enjoyed this and all agreed that the alcohol/sugar/mint ratio is perfect. Be careful though, you can not taste the vodka This will be a repeat many times before the summer party season is over. Thanks for sharing, Paul.-31 Jul 2011
Watermelon & Lime Vodka Cocktail
I am almost embarrassed to say that on more than one occasion, just in the past 2 weeks alone, I have eaten 1/4 to 1/2 a watermelon all by myself! I may have eaten a whole one in a 24 hour period, and I am not finished yet! They are just SO good this year! AND good for you! Watermelon has great health benefits.
So of course I would also gravitate towards making a watermelon cocktail or two. After all…I do love my cocktails, lol!
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 3 sprigs fresh mint
- 6 pounds seedless watermelon, flesh roughly chopped (about 8 cups)
- Juice of 2 limes
Cook sugar and 1 cup water, stirring constantly, in a small saucepan over low heat until sugar has dissolved. Add mint. Bring to a boil. Cook 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover let stand 20 minutes.
Working in batches, puree watermelon in a blender. Pour through a fine sieve into a large bowl discard solids.
Pour mint syrup through a fine sieve into a bowl discard mint. Stir syrup into puree. Stir in lime juice. Refrigerate, covered, at least 2 hours (up to overnight).
Freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions. Transfer to an airtight container freeze at least 1 hour (up to 4 days). Let stand at room temperature 10 minutes before serving.

My Watermelon Mint Vodka Gimlet Recipe is sponsored by Master of Mixes. As always, the ideas and opinions shared are all mine.
Hello friends! If you&rsquore a regular friend here you probably know by now that I&rsquom a fan of a tasty libation. As a fan, I&rsquom embarrassed to admit that I only recently discovered that a gimlet can be made with vodka as opposed to gin (a fan of gin I am not ). Once I discovered this, a gimlet has risen into my top 5 favorite cocktails and this Watermelon Mint Vodka Gimlet is currently coming in at #1.
After discovering my newfound appreciation of the classic gimlet cocktail, I decided to give it some summer flair by mixing it with Master of Mixes Watermelon Daiquiri/Margarita Mixer and some fresh garden mint. Watermelon and mint go together like peanut butter and jelly in my book and since Master of Mixes mixers (say that 5 times fast!) are made with real fruit, taking a sip of this Watermelon Mint Vodka Gimlet feels like taking that first juicy bite of watermelon when it comes into season. Not only is the fruit in Master of Mixes real, it&rsquos picked at the peak of ripeness so when this combo of watermelon/mint/lime come together , the most perfect explosion of flavor ensues.

Kate Hudson's Favorite Watermelon Mojito Is Only 6 Points on Weight Watchers
Sip up every last drop of the sunny season with this so-easy vodka drink.
From homemade Mini Peach Pies to Chili-Rubbed Salmon with Mango-Peach Salsa, Kate Hudson is winning the healthy summer cooking game. And just in time for the unofficial end of summer, she&aposs demonstrating her Weight Watchers-friendly twist on a melon mojito on Instagram.
The mom of three, actress and Fabletics activewear co-founder has been an ambassador for WW, the rebranded Weight Watchers, since 2018. The healthy eating brand knows Hudson loves to integrate a cocktail or two every so often within her 16 daily WW points, so they sent her their Watermelon Mojito recipe for a refreshing, fruity rendition on the minty drink. (Psst. we know 16 points doesn&apost sound like very much, considering one serving of this cocktail has 6 points, but there are several "free foods" she can also nosh on in unlimited quantities to fuel up for a day of working, working out and running after her active kiddos).
"It&aposs a famous Cuban cocktail usually made with rum. We&aposre going to do it with vodka," Hudson explains to kick off the video that has already garnered nearly 2 million views in just 4 days.
During the 5-minute demo from Hudson&aposs beautiful kitchen (can we talk about that backsplash tile?!), her 16-year-old son Ryder Robinson lends a helping hand, playing both DJ and appliance assistant when the blender doesn&apost turn on. And in more super-relatable content, both Ryder and 9-year-old Bingham Hawn Bellamy chime in with reviews about schooling from home. "I just had PE on Zoom," Bingham chimes in as his mom multitasks listening and moving forward with her after-school, adults-only sip.
Using something similar to a FOCHEA Personal Smoothie Blender ($36.99, amazon.com), Hudson starts by pureeing a big batch of low-calorie, vitamin A- and C-rich watermelon. Next up, she muddles fresh mint in a pitcher to help release the natural oils and aromas, then tops that off with the watermelon that she&aposs blended, strained and skimmed the foam off the top of. Add a cup of vodka—Hudson recommends her brand, King St. Vodka, naturally𠅊nd finish with fresh lime juice and a splash of agave nectar.
"For the sake of Instagram," Hudson says, as she built a beautiful, glamour-shot-ready glass with a big sprig of fresh mint and a cube of melon on the rim.
The results look like the ideal easy cocktail recipe for the final warm days of the year𠅊nd the days you wish were warmer or spent with your toes in the sand of a tropical beach. If only Instagram had a "send Watermelon Mojitos" feature, we&aposd love to snag one of her extra servings right about now.
Minty Watermelon Surfer
Get on your surf board and let this watermelon splash you!
This is a fun, summery drink, made with one of my favorite summer fruits, watermelon! For this recipe, I use a watermelon into two different ways — juiced and cubed. I let the cubed watermelon be soaked up for a while so that when you pop in these spiked up watermelon cubes, they will give you an irresistibly refreshing burst.
It’s a simple, fun drink, perfect for the 4th of July and all summer long!
Total Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 1 large pitcher
Sparkling water or club soda to top it off
Cut the half of a whole watermelon. Scoop out the meat of the halved watermelon into a blender. Blend it until it’s juiced. Cube the other half of watermelon. Put it aside.
In a large pitcher, muddle mint first. Add ice and pour vodka, watermelon juice, lime juice, and stir.
Add chunks of cubed watermelon to the pitcher and mix it all together.
Pour the drink into an iced glass, and finish it off with more fresh mint and a little bit of sparkling water. Finish with a bottle of sparkling water.

The Canine Chef Cookbook
We've been making this for years in the summer for the grownups adding 1/3 cup sugar and 1/2 cup tequila or vodka. It's a refreshing slushy drink best enjoyed in the early evening out on the deck with friends.
Obviously dogs can't have alcohol and I don't feed Kirby sugar so I decided to do two versions - one for the adults and one for the dogs. Not only did Kirby greedily slurp it down, I have realized the adult version doesn't need the added sugar at all which might help my waistline just a little.
